Sapphire Dental Care Child Safety Program

 Sapphire Dental Care is proud to announce the addition of Toothprints to our practice.

Toothprints was developed by a pediatric dentist who began using dental bite impressions as a way of safeguarding his own child, and other young patients.

 We consider toothprints a contribution to the safety of the children in our community. The fee is 5 dollars; however the majority of the proceeds are being donated to the National Center for Missing and Exploited children.

 How it works:

The thermoplastic wafer records the size and shape of a child’s teeth, the tooth position within the arch, and the relationship between upper and lower jaws.

Toothprints are able to retain a sample of the DNA and scent of the individual. This unique method of identification works well in conjunction with other forms of identification such as fingerprints.

 The Procedure:

The dentist will soften the patented thermoplastic wafer, and instruct your child to "open big, and then bite down tight for 10 seconds. It's that simple. Parents keep the Toothprints® disc at home in a ziplock bag (provided), for confidentiality and quick access.
